Questions? SoundTrak!™ FAQs

What is SoundTrak!™ The Music Game?

SoundTrak!™ The Music Game is a card game that combines the use of smart phones, music streaming services and a group of people who love sharing music, playing games and having fun.

How do you play?

You pick a card and read the challenge then each player uses their phone or device to search for a song using their favorite (or any) music streaming service. As an example, if the House Party card is chosen and the topic is "Ice" we can almost guarantee that that one song by that guy from the '80s will get played. Keep in mind there are other songs with or about ice.

What equipment do you need?

SoundTrak!™ The Music Game, a device such as a smart phone and access to a music streaming service. Other equipment is optional such as a Bluetooth speaker (recommend that each player have their own speaker), wi-fi, good snacks, good drinks.

Can I use any music streaming service?

Yes, Spotify, Apple, Pandora, YouTube, Google Music, Amazon, Alexa, etc., etc., any music service that you can search and play music.

How many and what kind of challenges are in the game?

There are 5 different challenges that designate who plays in that round. They are DJ Battle (left 3 players, right 3 players, 2 player and 3 player battles) House Party (all play) Dance Off! (3 players chosen by the judge to dance) Dance Party everybody dances) and Wild Thing! (three different challenges to choose from).

What are the topics?

Any thing and everything from favorites, generations, worst song, styles, genres, feelings, events, best ever, first song that….

How many people can play?

We recommend 4-10 players but you can have as many as you want. If you have a large group, play in teams. More players means more music!

What ages can play?

We recommend ages 14 and up. Some content is not recommended for younger children. But you can skip some of those cards and topics. Playing with a mix of ages is one of the best ways to play because of the variety and types of music people play.

What kind of music can we play?

Any music, song, genre, style, type. From rock, jazz, rap, house, blues, broadway, classical, bluegrass, country, movie themes, anything. The topic was the '60s and we know of one player that played a Gregorian chant from the 1560's. He won the round!

Do you play the whole song?

We recommend playing just a few seconds of the song until its recognized by the group or you let folks know what the song is. No repeats so the sooner and quicker you find a song and play it, the better. That way the other players will have to come up with a different song than yours.

How is the winner chosen?

The person that picks the card is the judge and awards the card to the person that they believe played the music that best represents the topic. Its all subjective and on the whims of the judge. The first person to win 5 cards (or 7, or 10, or 20, you set the winning total) is the game winner.

How do you use the Groupie cards?

Use your imagination on how to use a groupie. However, for purposes of the game, a Groupie card is used to challenge the decision of the judge. As an example, if the judge chooses a winner and the rest of the players think that someone else played a better song a Groupie card can be awarded to that player.  Groupie cards count towards the total for winning the game.
